"Before Haven I was at a point in my life where I felt like I wasn’t doing enough. I felt like I was only making films for entertainment and for money. I was interested in making good content, but was my content meaningful?
For most of us, when it comes to making change we say... when I have the money or when I have more time
But for me I needed a shift.
My shift happened when it felt like everyday videos surfaced online of unarmed black man being killed by police.
And then a couple years later when it felt like too often we were hearing about sexual assaults against women from men in high places.
As a black female how was I helping?
I had done my fair share of protests, of Instagram and Facebook posting.
I even had some t-shirts and pins.
But was it life changing?
I’m a storyteller….
And like Oprah calls it...I had an ah-ha moment!
I would make ripples where I was!"
